Expert guidance and comprehensive support to take the stress out of publishing.
You did the science. You have the data. Now, you need to turn it into a published paper.
But the path to publication is rarely a straight line. Perhaps you are squeezed for time, anticipating harsh reviewer critiques, or struggling to find the right scientific narrative to frame your work.
I know what it feels like to be stuck on a project, and I know the immense pressure of a mounting academic to-do list.
That is why I built my editing and consulting practice: to streamline the publication process for researchers and ensure your best work gets across the finish line as well as the attention it deserves.
Every successful project begins the same way: a free, no-obligation conversation.

Chris has been a remarkably accurate and helpful editor, indexer, and proofreader. He helped make our book more readable and at the same time suggested ways to eliminate possible misreadings. Chris has also been phenomenally patient with us and kept a level head during the intense editing periods demanded by the publisher.
Chris helped me refine my scientific presentations and professional communication while I was interviewing for academic positions. My work spans computer science and medicine, so clarity across diverse audiences is essential. Chris's scientific curiosity and cross-disciplinary perspective made him an ideal sounding board for that. He also has a sharp eye for tone and subtext in professional correspondence, which, as a non-native English speaker, I found truly irreplaceable. Highly recommended.
I was fortunate to have Chris's support in the review and editing of the manuscript for our article Ethion food poisoning outbreak in Pereira, Colombia, 2022, and the experience was exceptional. His ability to improve the clarity of the text while respecting the scientific content and strengthening the message was invaluable. In addition to his excellent technical knowledge, I want to highlight his commitment, willingness to help, attention to detail, and human quality throughout the entire process. I recommend Chris without any hesitation, not only for his professionalism but also for being a person of integrity, kind and committed to excellence. Working with him was a true privilege, and I hope to have the opportunity to collaborate again in the future.
I have had the opportunity to work with Chris on the review and polishing of the English in a scientific article, and the experience was excellent. What we like most about his work is that he doesn't simply translate or correct grammar; he truly understands scientific language and makes manuscripts clear, natural, and consistent with the style of international journals, always respecting the content and intent of the authors. Moreover, thanks to his extensive experience and training as a scientist, he sometimes helps us with suggestions to improve the article, always in a respectful and very timely manner. Since then, he has become our go-to whenever we need support with English translations or style corrections for scientific articles. His professionalism, attention to detail, responsiveness, and commitment to quality make him an invaluable ally for researchers and graduate students. I recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking to take the quality of their manuscripts to the next level before submitting them for publication.
Chris has been instrumental in helping me refine my editorial and scientific projects. His academic editing is meticulous and carefully tailored to the scientific context of each manuscript, ensuring that the writing is clear, fluent, and coherent, while also aligning with both the intended editorial approach and the scope of the journal selected for publication. His strong scientific background enables him not only to make grammatical, spelling, and syntactic corrections, but also to identify and address potential issues in logic, argumentation, or precision that might otherwise have gone unnoticed—all while fully respecting the authors’ content and intent. I recommend Chris without hesitation. He is an excellent translator from Spanish to English and vice versa, as well as a first-rate academic editor. If you are looking for someone who can help ensure that language is not an obstacle to having your manuscripts accepted by high-impact journals, Chris is the right person for the job.
I am a scientific editor, consultant, and active researcher. My journey into full-time editing and consulting began after finishing a postdoctoral fellowship, where I realized that my true passion lies in helping other scientists navigate the publishing process.
Years of rigorous research form the backbone of my academic training. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Biology from Hendrix College, followed by a PhD in Biology from UNC Chapel Hill, where my work was supported by a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship. I later completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
When I am not helping researchers refine and publish their work, I spend most of my time managing my own active research projects as an Adjunct Researcher at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.
Tell me a little about your project and I'll get back to you promptly.
